Well Women | Know Your Hormoness

What Is A Hormone?

Hormones are natural chemicals made by the body that help regulate important functions like immunity, growth, and metabolism. When your doctor talks about hormone imbalance, they may be referring to estrogen and testosterone, commonly known as the ‘sex hormones.’ These hormones play a key role in reproductive health and other processes throughout the body.

Hormone imbalances can become more common with age and may also occur during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause. If you’re experiencing symptoms, talk to your Primary Care Doctor. They may refer you to an endocrinologist, a specialist in hormone health. In some cases, hormone supplements like estrogen may help relieve symptoms.
